Welcome Message from Rev. Caitlin O'Brien

Dear welcomed visitor,

I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself to you. My name is Rev. Caitlin O’Brien, and I am entering my 6th year serving All Souls as the Associate Minister. Prior to serving in the parish setting, my background has been in advocacy and human services settings with both adults and children. I have worked in direct care and management roles in organizations that support the healing, rights and self determination of immigrant laborers, survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, people coming out of homelessness, and those ill or dying in hospital and hospice care. Ordained in 2003, I have served as “Affiliate Minister” to two congregations: First Parish UU Church of Arlington, MA and the Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Society (SUUS) of Madison, CT.

In my work overseeing Religious Education at All Souls, I tend to favor two major goals: to provide a space where young people can create meaningful community, and to share a curriculum that encourages character building – by that, I mean self esteem, resilience and a healthy conscience. As the mother of two young children, I am well aware that these goals take shape very differently at each developmental stage, and that they differ for each child.

In addition to overseeing Religious Education programming, I am available to families for pastoral care – to be of support in the roller coaster that life (and particularly life with children) can be.  Please keep me in mind as someone you can reach out to in both times of struggle and times of joy.  I’m available by phone throughout the week, and I keep office hours after services on Sundays, and all day on Wednesdays.  Please call our office (860-443-0316) or email me at associate.minister@allsouls.net to arrange an appointment to get together.  I look forward to connecting with you.

Blessings,

Caitlin
