The Gift of Song


All Souls offers a unique way to honor or memorialize a loved one.


Much the way a hymnal can be inscribed with a dedication, the "Gift of Song" program allows for a choir anthem to be inscribed with a dedication. Each copy of the printed sheet music for an anthem will bear a dedication. Each time the piece is sung by the choir, the printed Order of Service will include the dedication.


To make a “Gift of Song”:


1. Decide at what level you wish to make your dedication. There are three levels for a “Gift of Song” donation: The cost of the donation is either $100 for an anthem, $400 for a cantata, or $1,000 for a commission. See below for additional information.


2. Select a title from the following list provided by choir director Tonya Laymon:

* Anthem ($100. An anthem is a 2- 5 minute piece sung by the choir in a typical Sunday morning service.)


* Cantata or Anthology ($400. A cantata is a longer, multi-movement work, usually accompanied by orchestra. An anthology is a collection of short anthems.)


* Commission ($1,000. A commission is when a composer is asked to compose an original anthem to be premiered by the All Souls Choir in one of our worship services.)

Everyone is most welcome! The Meditation Group meets twice weekly: at 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday mornings and at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday evenings. Basic guidelines are offered to all newcomers, and guided mediation is offered during some of the sessions.

Each session includes silent sitting mediation, walking mediation, and dharma sharing, in which folks may share their meditation experiences. On most second Wednesdays, our coordinator offers guided meditation with the body, from 5:00 to 5:30 pm. Attendance is free but donations are gratefully accepted.

We are an inclusive social group of adults interested in crafts. We gather with each other on Wednesday evenings to work on our own current personal projects. Whatever the skill: knit, crochet, needlepoint, zentangle, sewing, quilting, beadwork, cross-stitch, scrapbooking, we are willing to teach what we know to others.

Childcare is not provided. Come and be with us as your schedule permits: once a week or once a month, whatever works for you.
