All Souls Choirs

"The only thing better than singing is more singing" - Ella Fitzgerald

All Souls has three choirs - The All Souls Choir, Camarata, and new news The Family Choir
Congregational membership is not required for choir participation.
Choir repertoires range from Gregorian chant to experimental group vocal improvisation, and from Bach to Brubeck.

All Souls Choir is open to most anyone who can match pitches; if you can sing Happy Birthday along with the crowd, we welcome you!
Camarata is open on a space-available, audition basis to those who read music well; the more challenging level of literature requires that members practice regularly.
new news The Family Choir meets every-so-often beginning in March, 2007.
Families of all configurations are invited to participate.  Single people can come too!
Karen Ethier-Waring will direct the choir and Becky Noreen will accompany and coordinate.  We will have rehearsals on Sunday mornings starting with a healthy shared breakfast at 8:15, then a 45-minute rehearsal.
The rehearsals will be March 4, 11, 18 and 25 with the Family Choir singing in the Dedication service on March 25.
More information including registration forms will be mailed to all families registered in RE, or you can contact Becky Noreen at noreentowne@comcast.net or (860) 572-9627.  There will be a minimum cost for breakfast, but the fun will be priceless!

Performance Schedule

"Life is a shipwreck, but we must not forget to sing in the lifeboats" - Voltaire

The choirs sing at services approximately twice per month, September through June, and sing out in the community approximately 4 times per year.
A high priority is placed on rehearsal attendance and performance participation.
We do not meet July and August and break for a few weeks after the winter holidays.
Annual activities include a Winter Holiday Carol Sing, All Souls Annual Music Night, interfaith events combining with voices of other local faith communities, and occasional outreach/community service appearances.

Fellowship

"Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life" - Berthold Auerbach

We sing from our hearts and place our emphasis on moving the congregation and our audiences.
Choir members are not all members of All Souls, or even Unitarian Universalists - just folks who love to sing!
Often tackling challenging music, we work hard to produce a level of excellence without the pressure of 'being perfect'.
We sing music by living composers from many races and continents; we sing about love, death, issues of hope and renewal, and about saving this precious Earth
Our choir director, Kit Johnson, is encouraging and our rehearsals are fun!
